Changing Hair Color with the Leaves

Now that we are well into fall and the leaves are changing colors – don’t get left behind; keep up with the Upper East Side autumnal hues! While the sunny highlights are perfect for your summer glow, you’re more likely to opt for warmer and richer tones for the change of the season to help balance out your fading tans. Mure Salon has opened its doors to welcome new change for your hair, no matter how subtle or drastic you are willing to go. Here’s what we suggest:

For Brunettes – dark brown/black hair:
From light chestnut to deep espresso, there are endless shades of browns that can be fabulous for fall. If you have pale skin, consider adding some highlights around the frame of your face, no lighter than caramel or copper, which will help warm up a dull complexion and add dimension. Add a brown/red gloss that is the same shade as your existing hair, which can help you adjust tone, add shine, or deepen the hair color to give it that extra bit of warmth without committing to a drastic change.
Ombré continues to be a major trend, and don’t forget there are various techniques to executing this look. You can either opt for a drastic two-tone or a subtle color fade just two shades lighter.

For Blondes:
Who said that blonde is just for the beach?
Although blonde hair is generally correlated with spring and summer seasons, there are ways to add a bit of autumnal fusion and remain true to yourself! As your tan begins to fade for fall, avoid a bright, buttery blonde tint that will wash you out. If you are an icy, bright blonde, consider glossing over your hair with a warmer gloss to give it a sandy shade.  If you feel that your bleached highlights have begun to fuse together, consider adding honey low-lights in between to break up the solid color. Doing so will add dimension to your hair, as well as bring out the warmer tones in your skin.

For Redheads:
Never fear the fiery red – surprisingly, this color is actually very wearable, and adds a striking appearance against similar shades of leaves. If you considering joining the red-headed family, it is best to opt for a shade in the strawberry-champagne side – not too drastic or startling of a transformation, but it will give your complexion some rosy warmth. Auburn is always a popular fall choice, because it is the perfect blend of brown and red and looks flattering on all skin tones. From burnt sienna to rich mahogany, you can rock the autumn look with either light or olive skin. Keep in mind that red tends to oxidize with sun exposure – now you can rock any shade of red, without the fear of losing the rich pigment!
