The Holiday Halo - Angelic, Classic and Timeless

Three simple steps to achieving a halo braid in time for the holidays

The halo braid, also known as the milkmaid braid or braided updo, is this holiday’s most anticipated hairstyle. Celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller have all rocked the halo braid - even Carrie Underwood hopped on the halo braid bandwagon in her recent holiday special The Sound of Music Live. Upper East Side's Mure Salon will walk you through this timeless yet potentially tricky-to-achieve look, to have you holiday-ready in just minutes!

Step 1: Separate the back of the hair into two sections - make sure your hair is completely dry.

Step 2: Braid both of the sections into pigtails, securing each with subtle hair bands.

Step 3: Wrap the braids around your hair in the direction that of your choice -  if you prefer your halo to wrap completely around the head, then wrap one braid around the front, and one braid around the back, securing them tightly with bobby pins. If you choose to have the braids sit in the front of your head, then criss-cross them as show in the picture below.
